Kevin Marcus brings a wealth of experience in cutting-edge Internet technologies to his role as co-founder and Chief Technology Officer at Versium. With a background in computer science, strong analytical skills, and a good practical sense for business needs, he’s architected and driven many key product solutions from inception to release, and is now doing the same at Versium.
Marcus is a serial entrepreneur founding several successful technology companies including InfoSpace (now Blucora – NASDAQ: BCOR), Intelius (PE exit) and Talentwise (PE exit). In these roles, he delivered several complex solutions, including data processing, user and payment platforms, a “cobranding” platform, and a massively-scalable virtual database. He was one of the pioneers in the mobile phone space, creating several of the world’s first mobile phone video games on AT&T PocketNet’s service.
In a leadership role, Marcus guided engineering teams to successfully deliver a comprehensive suite of background check technologies, as well as applications including messaging and aggregation services. The innovations in his work have resulted in his holding five United States patents related to user authentication, messaging, geographical searching, and CPU emulation. He has also advised on technological feasibility for over 30 mergers and acquisitions.
He’s continuing to help shape the future of technology by serving on UC Riverside’s Computer Science Advisory Board and regularly speaks on entrepreneurship to UCR’s College of Engineering. He’s also served on the founding board of the University of Washington Information School, and presented and published for MIT’s Senseable City Lab. His passion for technology extends into his spare time where he has actively been involved in cryptocurrencies since 2011 and is involved with private space exploration company Moon Express.
